About
About etud
The name comes from étude, French for "study": a focused piece of practice meant to build one skill.
Most people preparing for IELTS or TOEFL write practice essays with no one to mark them. They can tell an essay is finished, but not whether it is a 6 or a 7, or what would move it up. etud exists to close that gap.
What we believe
- Feedback should be specific. "Improve your vocabulary" helps no one. Pointing at the sentence that needs work does.
- Estimates should be honest. We show uncertainty and publish how accurate we are.
- Practice is yours to do. etud assesses your writing. It does not write it for you.
Independence
etud is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the British Council, IDP IELTS, Cambridge University Press & Assessment or ETS. IELTS, TOEFL and TOEFL iBT are trademarks of their respective owners and are used here only to describe the exams the tool helps with.
